Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) conducts its annual entrance examination known as All India Entrance Examination for admission to Undergraduate (AIEEA UG) Degree programmes. For the year 2016, the exam notification is already out and as per the notification, the exam is scheduled to be conducted on April 09, 2015.

ICAR Examination is conducted every year to select candidates for admission into 15% seats of participating agricultural universities for Bachelors Program. All the seats of ICAR Deemed to be Universities and NDRI, Karnal will be filled on the basis of score obtained in the ICAR examination.

In this article we will discuss details related to the ICAR Examination, such as the eligibility, exam pattern etc.:

Eligibility: The candidates willing to go for AIEEA UG Examination should fill the following eligibility criteria to appear in the examination:

Nationality: The applicant needs to be an Indian citizen.

Age: The age of the candidate should be above 17 years and less than 23 years to appear in the examination.

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and Physically Challenged candidates can get age relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.

Educational Qualification: The candidates who are appearing or have cleared class 12 examinations from CBSE or any other board are eligible to appear in the examination.

Subject Combination:

For Stream A: Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture/Home Science and for Stream B: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Minimum Marks: The criteria of minimum qualifying marks in class 12 is 50% for candidates belonging to General Category while the same is 40% for candidates belonging to SC, ST and PC candidates.

Language: To be eligible for admission into Universities located in Non-Hindi speaking states the student should have passed English as a core subject in class 12.

Application Process: Candidates can opt for either online application or for offline application. For online application, the application form is available on the website while if a candidate wants to make an offline application then offline OMR application form can be obtained from the Registrars of Agricultural University, Specified Branches of Syndicate Bank or through ICAR institutions.

Application Fee: Candidates from reserved categories should pay an application fee of Rs. 250 while candidates from general category are required to make a payment of Rs. 500 as application fee.

Examination Pattern: Candidates are supposed to answer 180 multiple choice type questions. For each correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded and 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The question paper will be bilingual i.e. will have questions in Hindi & English.

Selection Process: The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the Merit of the entrance examination and availability of seats in the course selected by the candidate.

Result: The result of ICAR 2016 is expected to be declared in the month of May 2016.
