A Family Trip To Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is one of the nations that make up the famed Caribbean region, which is known for its majestic white-sand beaches and pure, crystalline waters. The weather in the region, as well as the whole country, is generally tropical, with two seasons: wet and dry. The dry season, which lasts from December to April, is the peak season for tourists, especially if they intend to spend most of their vacation in the island’s prominent beach resorts. The weather during this season is either mild or cool, making it amenable for beach activities.

The dry season is the best time to visit the island, as you can be certain that you can avail of any attraction that it has to offer, with no worries about the backlash of a hurricane or two. The hurricane season usually begins in mid-September and may last up to November.

Although the Dominican Republic is undoubtedly more popularly known as a beach destination, it is not without other notable sights, which allows for ample opportunities to do family activities. If you’re looking for kid-friendly destinations that would surely make your Caribbean trip a memorable family experience, then you should consider going to following three venues.

Ocean World Adventure Park

Located in Puerto Plata, Ocean World provides a great opportunity for families who want to have a direct experience of the rich marine wildlife of the Dominican Republic. Take part in what is essentially a marine safari and study the behavior of such popular underwater fauna as dolphins, sharks, and stingrays. The park has special attractions, which let you interact with the sea lions and dolphins (on waist-high waters) for 30 minutes. Without a doubt, an experience that the kids would surely not want to miss out on. You can even choose to swim with the stingrays and sharks! As long as you’re gutsy enough, that is!

Aquamundo Sambil Santo Domingo

If you and your little ones are avid enthusiasts of marine life, then you really should not miss out on this relatively new tourist attraction. Think of it as the entire Caribbean region’s aquatic world packed into one large aquarium. This is because it hosts most of the maritime life found in the said region, from corals, various fishes, and, of course, the Caribbean’s fearsome sharks. You can get hands-on experience with the fishes as well because you and your kids are allowed to feed them. A very educational destination, indeed!

Scape Park at Cap Cana

This destination is practically abounding in activities perfect for every member of the family. You can explore subterranean caves, for instance, and discover Hoyo Azul, which is a hidden pool that has one of the clearest waters you can swim on. On the other hand, if you’d like to experience sightseeing on the beach while on horseback, then this is also the best place to do so. As for your more daring tweens and teens, the zip line is probably one activity that they would enjoy immensely. Other activities include: biking, boating, and fishing. With such a plethora of activities, this is one of the few destinations in the Dominican Republic where you and your family are sure to have a complete Caribbean experience.
