SOL DU which was formerly known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education was established in the year 1962 under the aegis of University of Delhi. It is considered as one of the most renowned Institution in terms of Distance Education in India. School of open Learning, Delhi University is one of the oldest distance learning centres in India.

When SOL was started, it had a modest admission of 900 students which has now reached to around 150,000 students who take admission every year. However, the 77 regular colleges affiliated to Delhi University have in total around 54000 seats. For those who wish to continue their studies and have a degree from Delhi University in spite of their low percentage either in Graduation or in Class 12 Board Exams School of Open Learning is the best call.

Moreover there exists NO difference between the degree which is being awarded by any of the affiliated 77 colleges and the one that is awarded by School of Open Learning. It has also been divided into two centres. Centre one is located in North Campus and Centre Two is located in South Campus. The medium of instruction of the courses is both in English as well as Hindi medium except for BA (H) English

The admission process for Undergraduate Courses offered by SOL DU kick started on June 29, 2015. Those days have gone far back when candidates aspiring for admissions have to wait in the long queues under the scorching sun and crowded corridors in admission season. Admission process has now been upgraded which takes around 20 minutes for the applicants be a student of SOL. So the upgraded system is that candidates can apply Online for five undergraduate courses till August 17 at the official website.

What is the Eligibility Criteria?

Age: No minimum age has been prescribed for admission to UG Course

Academic Qualifications: For those applying for admission shall have passed any one of the below mentioned examinations:

In the qualifying examination candidates should have minimum prescribed marks
 B.Com. (Hons.)
  • Class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam- 55%
  • In Vocational or technical stream with Commerce – 60%
  • Class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam- 45%
  • In Vocational or technical stream with Commerce – 50%
Candidates should have minimum prescribed marks in the last qualifying exam
B.A. (Hon.)Political Science
  • Class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam- 50%
  • Class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam- 40%
Minimum prescribed marks should have been secured by the candidate in qualifying exam
B.A. Programme &  B.Com.
  • Class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam- 40%
  • Class 12 or equivalent qualifying exam- 30%
In the qualifying exam minimum prescribed arks have been secured
