Today we are going to the burning of Zozobra, a 50-foot high effigy of "Old Man Gloom." We can bring unhappy things to throw inside him before the burn so our gloom will be burned away as well. They've been doing this here for 84 years---hmmm, sound like Burning Man at all? Only this is a one-day event and people do not get to camp out and make art and go naked, etc!! So we're making a list of other stuff to do in Santa Fe since they don't burn Gloom until dusk. Should be fun--we rarely attend any events 'cause we need to stay in the gallery...but not today!! Hmmm, I guess tomorrow or Saturday is the day for the Minnesota Winter Hats to be put in the mail. |
