Ford Motors has already set up their engine assembly plant in India and is started operating. Located in Chennai, initially the plant will manufacture 60,000 engines annually for Ford Fiesta and Ford Fusion models and later increased to 250,000 engines annually. Majority of these engines will be used locally and the rest would be exported. The company aims to enhance the capacity of the plant to manufacture 250,000 engines annually. This plant will help position Ford India as a strategic manufacturing hub for low displacement powertrain engines within our Asia Pacific and Africa region and also help in facilitating quicker time-to-market response. |
